A Tradition of Hospitality Since 1759
The Magazine Hotel is one of the oldest pubs on the Wirral, retaining much of its original character and historic charm. From its cosy snugs to its welcoming open fireplace, every corner of the pub offers a glimpse into its rich heritage. We proudly serve draught Bass, a rarity in the area, alongside a rotating selection of guest ales from local breweries. Our commitment to quality has earned us recognition as a Cask Marque-accredited venue and a regular feature in the Good Beer Guide.
Stunning Views and Outdoor Seating
Perched in an elevated position, The Magazine Hotel boasts a beer garden with spectacular views across the River Mersey. On sunny days, it becomes a sought-after spot for visitors looking to enjoy a relaxing drink in the fresh air. Whether you’re a day-tripper exploring New Brighton or a local seeking a peaceful retreat, our outdoor seating provides the perfect setting to unwind and take in the scenic surroundings.

The Magazine Hotel: Historic Charm & Warm Hospitality Since 1759
The Magazine Hotel is one of the oldest pubs on the Wirral, with its building dating back to 1759, still retaining much of its original character and charm.
With our cosy snugs and open fireplace, we always extend a warm welcome to our many customers.

A Haven for Beer Lovers: Serving Draught Bass & Local Ales
We are one of only a handful of pubs in the area still serving draught Bass, attracting visitors from near and far.
In recent years, we have introduced guest ales and are proud to support our local breweries. One of these, Brimstage Brewing’s Trapper’s Hat, has built a reputation to rival Bass. It has become so popular with our customers that we have now made it a permanent fixture on our bar.
A Hub for Community and Live Events
At the heart of our community, The Magazine Hotel hosts a variety of events, including live music, folk club nights, and a popular weekly quiz. Our longstanding connection with the Magazine Bowling Club, established in 1853, further strengthens our ties with the local area. Whether you’re here for a pint of expertly kept cask ale or an evening of entertainment, there’s always something happening at The Mags. Visit our events page to stay updated on upcoming activities.
